Missing inventory data issue after adding Local Inventory Feed

Topic summary

Key Issues:

  • Missing inventory data
  • Unverified inventory
  • Additional errors visible include missing price and description

Troubleshooting Steps Discussed:

  • Verify Google Business Profile (GBP) is properly linked
  • Add GBP store code to the feed configuration
  • Ensure products have adequate stock (minimum 3 units recommended)
  • Resolve all “needs attention” issues in Merchant Center

Current Challenge:
The user lacks direct Shopify account access and is seeking Shopify-specific instructions for configuring the store code. While Google Business Profile stores appear linked in Merchant Center (per screenshot), the exact location within Shopify settings to configure the GBP store code remains unclear.

Hello,

We recently enabled Google Local Inventory in our Shopify account, which is now syncing with our Merchant Center. As we operate physical retail stores, we are looking to run Local Inventory Ads (LIA) to promote in-store availability. However, we’re seeing three key issues flagged under our Local Inventory products:

  1. Missing inventory data
  2. Unverified inventory
  3. Pending initial review (less critical for now)

Could you please advise how we can resolve the first two issues — Missing inventory data and Unverified inventory?

Is there anything that needs to be enabled or configured within Shopify to ensure proper syncing of local inventory?

Appreciate your help!

Do you have a Google Business Profile (GBP)?

Did you add your GBP store code in the feed?

Are all products in stock, and have at least an availability of 3 units?

Have you resolved all other needs attention issues? For example I can see missing price and description. All issues should be fixed.

Hi Emmanuel,

Thank you for your response.

Unfortunately, I don’t have access to the client’s Shopify account—I only provided them with the instructions on how to enable Google Local Inventory. However, I can confirm that the Google Business Profile stores are already linked in Merchant Center (see screenshot below).

Regarding the GBP store code, where exactly can we configure this? Is there a specific setting in Shopify where this can be set?

Cheers!

Yes, you need to check the settings in Shopify, for verifying GBP store code.

And sorry for asking, what is the purpose of this store code? I basically just followed the Shopify article (https://www.shopify.com/au/retail/google-local-inventory-ads) for Local Inventory Ads and it didnt mention anything about store code.

Do you have Shopify-specific instructions instead? We’re using Shopify for both our store and feed, and the help link you provided mainly covers general feed setup and specifications—not how to configure this within Shopify, which makes things a bit confusing.

That’s why I’m posting here in the Shopify forum—to better understand how to properly set up Local Inventory within Shopify. The article on Shopify’s site (https://www.shopify.com/au/retail/google-local-inventory-ads) makes the process look straightforward, but in practice, there are a lot more steps involved.

hi did you come right> I’m having a similar issue thus would appreciate any insight or tips from you.

Thank you
