Good Day and thanks for taking a look.
I sell bath bombs and other bath products, and I offer a make your own 6 pack. Example here: https://quarrylifellc.com/products/customize-your-scents-6-or-8-pack
I like the dropdown feature for each of the scents, so I am currently using Product Options Variants BSS, however, it doesn’t track the inventory of the individual scents leaving me with an absolute nightmare of selling stuff that’s not in stock, manually adjusting, etc. I need the app to track the fragrances by sku, and if the inventory isn’t there, mark it as “Sold out” in the dropdown and not able to be selected.
I stumbled upon “Simple Bundles” which looks promising, but I need more than 3 bundle options and since my business is very young (not even 6 months old), I can’t swing the hefty price tag to add more options.
I also have Foaming Bath Dust which comes with the option to select your rubber ducky color. I set this up with a variant directly in Shopify, and it has also created a nightmare.
At this point, with lack of phone support, the chat support being a nightmare - I’m at a loss. I can’t continue to sell products if I can’t have any control over the inventory with the look and feel of my store I am trying to achieve.
I have spent hours and hours and hours trying to figure out which app to add on to do what I need, and I can’t seem to find the right one - they all want to “discount” the bundle, and make it look weird or have a high price tag per month.
Anyone have any solutions?
That’s kind of a weird way to market your services.
Hi
The main issue you will have is if you have more than 100 variants than you have to use an options app or similar and these don’t let you track inventory as they add a summary of the options selected. This also applies if you want more than 3 options as that is the native limit on Shopify.
The way our bundle app tracks inventory is through a couple of ways.
1. Bundle Inventory
Bundleup lets you connect up your bundled product to components and it then updates the inventory based on the component stock level. So when a component inventory changes all bundles that contain the product also update.
2. Component Inventory
When you sell one of the bundles the stock level of components won’t reduce automatically. What Bundleup does is update the order post purchase by replacing the order line with the component SKUs as order lines which then reduces stock as per point 1 above.
If you can work within the variant limit or 3 options then a bundle app will work otherwise check out options apps.

Hi Sam,
If you look at my test link, it will show you that I have 6 choices, and there is 10 fragrances to choose from. I know for sure, that’s more than 1k variants because I was testing Wix (who said they could handle the volume in their system) and it stopped at 1k (3 selections).
I need my inventory tracked. I have wasted too much time running around with support to try different applications, and even proceeded to spend the day adding one yesterday to find out they can not in fact track my inventory and I was able to add 6 of a fragrance I only had 2 in stock.
I appreciate your response because at this point I’m beyond frustrated and can’t waste anymore time.
Thank you
