All of my items are only ordered one per customer and never had anyone order two of the same items. (High value and custom made)
Each item has its own shipping profile with different zone and rates. (No general shipping profile)
Somehow, I had an order today that a customer order two of the same items, and he only get charged one shipping rate. What am I missing? I needed to charge him the shipping rate X2. How can I do that?
I felt this is should be easy but just can’t find the answer. Thanks in advance..
Unfortunately, this is a limitation with Shopify shipping. It doesn’t allow you to set a per unit cost for shipping, so as long as a customer orders products from the same profile, it will only charge them the single rate in that profile.
If this only occurs rarely, and if the cost of shipping more than one isn’t too high each time, you may want to just leave things as-is. However, if the risk is too great, and if you’re open to using a third-party solution, Intuitive Shipping lets you create shipping methods with per unit costs, so you can charge customers based on any multiple of items.
Intuitive Shipping is free to install and use in Setup & Testing mode, so you can try it out before selecting a billing plan, to make sure it’s a good fit first. If you do decide to try it out, we recommend that you move all of your products into a single Profile, as our system is intended to be used with one General profile. Our Scenario system works similarly to Shopify Profiles, but gives you greater control.

This feature is $20 USD per month. If you change your Shopify billing to annual, they will add the feature at no additional cost (plus they will reduce your billing plan by 10%). If you’re on the Advanced plan or higher, this feature is already included and activated by default.
