My company currently uses Shopify Payments, but we need reccos for a third-party

Hello all,

My company currently uses Shopify Payments and it has been working great for us. However, there are some internal concerns that the fees are automatically deducted from our payout deposits, which doesn’t give our Finance team a great chance to keep track of the fees systematically.

Are there any third-party gateways that we could add that would bill us each month for their fees, rather than deduct it automatically? I assume that the Shopify transaction fee would still be deducted from payments?

Also, I’d have to turn off Shopify Payments to even be able to test a third-party solution, this seems like a cumbersome process that could be detrimental to our store.

Does anyone have any recommendations or been through this?

Thank you!

Hi @amkel24 !

In terms of our billing process for your subscription and fees, it is an automated process that cannot be outsourced by a third party payment gateway.

With that said, within the timeline of each order, you can see the amount added to your payout that reflects the fees automatically deducted. The best way for your Finance team to track the fees that are being deducted would be the information provided under Settings > Payments > View Payouts.

On this page, you see the detailed breakdown of each payout and the transactions they include. The fees are outlined clearly on this page. However, I understand that this page is not easy to manipulate in terms of data input.

This is why we have a comprehensive CSV export function that allows you to view the transaction details including a column for fees. Here’s how to export this information:

  1. From your Shopify admin, go to Settings > Payments
  2. In the Shopify Payments section, click the View payouts button
  3. Click Transactions
  4. Click Export. A CSV file downloads in your browser
  5. Open the CSV file in a spreadsheet editor
  6. You can find the column dedicated to fees for your data collection.

I hope this helps. If you need a hand with anything else, please let me know.

Cheers!
