Hi @Herve_LeD
It’s David from SearchPie here.
That’s a lot of questions! Let me answer them one by one:
Q1. How to set up a store for multiple languages?
Think of your website as a big filing cabinet. The best way is to use subfolders (like mystore.com/de for German). This is like keeping different language folders inside one single, strong cabinet, so all your reputation with Google stays in one place. Using subdomains (de.mystore.com) is like having separate, weaker filing cabinets all over the office.
Q2. One page or separate pages for product variations?
Keep all your product variations, like different colors or sizes, on one single product page. If every color of a T-shirt had its own page, all your customer reviews and your reputation with Google would be split up, making each page weaker. It’s much better to have one super-strong page with all the reviews and authority in one place.
Q3. How to make collection pages not compete with product pages?
Think of your collection pages as the main “aisles” in your store. They shouldn’t just be a grid of products. Write a nice introduction at the top of the collection page that talks about broader ideas, like “Summer Linen Shirts.” Then, let your individual product pages focus on the super-specific details, like “White Linen Button-Down Shirt - Size Large.” This way, your aisle page and your product page work together as a team.
Q4. How to make my site faster without making it look bad?
The two biggest things that slow down a store are big images and too many apps. First, make sure all your images are optimized (you can use SearchPie Image Compress feature for this). Moreover, our Image Compress feature would compress your image to have better sizes without affecting your image’s quality. Secondly, do a spring cleaning of your apps. If you’re not using an app, uninstall it. Fewer apps almost always mean a faster site. You should also contact the team of the unused apps so they can clean up any leftover codes on your site.
Q5. How to avoid duplicate content with Google Shopping?
You don’t need to worry about this. Shopify automatically adds a little invisible note to your product pages called a “canonical tag.” This note tells Google, “Hey, this is the one and only original copy of this page.” Google sees this and understands that the information in your Google Shopping feed is just a reference, so it never gets confused or penalizes you for having duplicate content.
Q6. How to automate SEO details for multiple languages?
Doing this manually would take forever. My recommendation is to use an app that can use simple formulas to generate your translated SEO titles and descriptions in minutes. With that, you can import the file back and everything should be good to go!
Hope this helps!
