Needs about the Shopify New Checkout Migration

Hello,

In order to prepare the migration on the new Shopify Checkout I have multiple needs that are still unsolved :

  • Hiding Recharge’s shipping rates when my client has a subscription product in its cart

  • Getting acces to the DOM

  • Showing up Mondial Relay’s map that needs the DOM access to be shown

Hiding ReCharge Shipping Options can be done with Shopify Functions. The other two are not possible, Shopify has made it clear that you do not have DOM access on checkout pages.

Thanks for replying !

The thing is that Shopify Functions only works with the shippings of the Shopify Subscriptions and not with Recharge. So since I am using Recharge, I have to add a hidden product but I only can hide it thanks to the DOM Access.

So if you don’t want to let the DOM Access to ecommerce, a solution needs to be found with Recharge in order for Shopify to show the same shipping than Recharge (and all the shippping methods, not only the cheapest one).

Also, for the Mondial Relay Map to be shown before processing the payment, DOM access is mandatory. So either Shopify should let theses access or Shopify needs to work on a solution with Mondial Relay to show the map before processing the payment at the step of choosing the Shipping Method.

I know the map is available but as soon as I add a subscription product within my cart it disappears. Shopify hasn’t offered any solution about that yet.

Do you know how to make it work ?

Hi Victoria,

typically merchants who offer subscriptions add free non-subscription product to force Shopify checkout to show multiple shipping methods. It’s a bit hack but I haven’t seen better solution.

Yes that’s what we did however with the new checkout extensibility, when you add a one time product and a subscription product in your cart, the map is not showing anymore in the one time product shipping option..

And that’s the real issue since Shopify is forcing us to move forward with the checkout extensibility.

I don’t know if you have any solution on that ?
