New Shopify Code Editor, A pain or a help?

Hi everyone,

The new feature they added to the Shopify Code editor is great but how many of you would rather want the old one?

I have stores still on the old code editor. I asked the Shopify support and they said that they are doing the updates by batch and reverting back to the old one is not a choice.

The following is what I do not like and hoping Shopify developers will fix it.

  1. When editing the global.js and click SAVE, it scroll up to the beginning of the file

  2. We no longer able to use hot keys, Ctrl + F is the only thing that slightly works. I like my codes formatted, the Shift + tab does not work anymore

  3. Ctrl + F works and I like the functionality that you can replaceAll at once but whenever we change file, we need to type the keyword again. I wish they make the feature bigger as well

  4. Render snippets. Before, we can click to the snippets name anywhere in the file and that would open the snippet.

Please add whatever you think that should change. I am hoping this thread will help Shopify developers to make some changes to the new Shopify editor.

  1. It takes a long time to SAVE the file and sometimes it crashes which needs reloading.

  2. Changes to the theme take around 5 seconds to take affect to the preview.

I second that on SAVE issues. I’ve been finding Shopify to be glitcy lately too.

Lately the SAVE button is not working. I have to try multiple times to save my product updates. Also in my online shop a section with columns is screwed up and the option to adjust them has disappeared. I’m working in Google Chrome. I also attempted to send an email to support and it says “confirm you are not a robot” but there is nothing to confirm it with. So how do I get this feedback to them?

I’m also getting really tired of repeatedly logging in to access support.
