I am expanding my brick and mortar into a mobile location. The POS Go as advertised is a great solution. Now they are sun-setting it. The operation of a POS app on a phone is clunky as the bar-code scanning requires tapping a tiny icon, and in bright sunlight, finding the code on dim screen is problematic.
I’m getting annoyed with Shopify’s lack of a solution going forward. Most companies that cared about users would have a solution in place before making their hardware unavailable.
Are there any handheld units outside of what shopify offers that is compatible?
I’m also annoyed, before pos go, we used the POS app with a Bluetooth barcode scanner and card reader, but having an all in 1 unit was so much better, I just came back to get a couple more units to find it’s no longer available… So sad. To answer your question though you can definitely make it work with a Bluetooth barcode scanner and card reader, and if you want the full package get an MPop cash drawer with built in printer. It all works but be prepared to deal with occasional connectivity issues because it’s a lot of points of failure. Doable but definitely nothing compared to the POS go
