Hi!
I would like to ask there is an option on Shopify to automate background removal? Like on subject.
I have a lot of products in my shop and i looking for the best solution. Any ideas? Maybie there is an function for that.
If you have a lot of product
photos, I would not handle this one by one inside the Shopify
admin.
The workflow I usually
recommend is:
Export or collect the
original product photos in one
folder
Remove the backgrounds in
batch
Save transparent PNG
versions
Export a second set with a
clean white or light background
for Shopify / marketplace use
Upload the finished images
back to Shopify
For small numbers of images,
remove.bg, Canva, or Photoshop
are fine. For larger catalogs,
batch processing matters much
more than the background
removal model itself.
Disclosure: I built a Windows
desktop tool for this workflow
called AI E-commerce Visual
Studio. It runs locally,
supports batch background
removal, batch background
replacement, and exports
Shopify/Amazon/social sizes.
Free mode includes single-image
cleanup and 100 batch removals;
Pro is a one-time paid license.
If your issue is a theme
background color or grey
wrapper around already-
transparent PNGs, then the fix
is probably CSS instead. But if
the background is baked into
the image file, you need to
process the images before
uploading.
Shopify has a built in “remove background” button per image, but it is one at a time, not bulk.
For bulk, apps like Pixc, PhotoRoom, or Removal.AI work well and are priced per image.
You could also batch edit outside Shopify first, like with remove.bg then upload after.
