Im wondering if there is a way to show what products need to be shipped on the shipping label itself instead of printing a separate packing slip. It can be something small on the bottom but printing a packing slip and label separately is a bit much to manage and wasteful.
Hi @TerraLabs
totally get where you’re coming from—having to print both a shipping label and a separate packing slip feels unnecessary and can be a hassle, especially when handling multiple orders.
Right now, Shopify’s built-in shipping label feature doesn’t include product details directly on the label. However, there are a few ways you can work around this:
-
Use a Third-Party App – Apps like Order Printer Pro, ShipStation, or EasyShip let you customize labels and include additional info, like product details, SKUs, or order numbers. These tools give you way more flexibility than Shopify’s default settings.
-
Customize Labels in Shopify – If you’re using Shopify Shipping, there’s no built-in way to add product info, but if you’re working with a third-party courier like UPS, FedEx, or USPS, check their settings—some allow extra text to be added in the label’s reference fields.
-
Manually Edit Labels (For Some Carriers) – Some shipping providers let you add a short note in the “Reference” or “Custom Message” field during label creation. You could include a product name or SKU here.
-
Thermal Printer + Compact Packing Slip – If you’re using a thermal printer, some sellers print a small packing list on a second label instead of a full page. This isn’t as wasteful as a full packing slip but still ensures order accuracy.
If you’re looking for a completely automated solution, I’d recommend checking out third-party apps that allow for custom label templates. Shopify’s built-in shipping label system is pretty limited when it comes to customization.
Hope that helps! If you need extra help, just let me know asap. Thanks
Daisy.
