I’m considering migrating my small “hand built” website to Shopify.
I need to know if the CSV order export contains fields for Line Item Properties (custom product options) as well as normal product Variants (options).
The Shopify documentation doesn’t make this clear to me.
I’m a small shop and really want to avoid paying $25 a month for an app to gain access to my data.

Shopify native orders export does not contain Line Item Properties.
Normal product variants are exported as a part of “Lineitem name”.
For example, “Lineitem name” would be “Test Product - Small / Blue”, “Small” would be one option and “Blue” would be 2nd option.
If you are open to using apps, then you can use Excelify app to export your Orders to CSV or Excel XLSX file formats.
In Excelify exported Orders file, regular options would be in a separate column “Line: Variant Title” and custom options (properties) would be in “Line: Properties” column.

Unfortunately, Shopify’s built-in order CSV export doesn’t include the Lineitem Properties data.
As for the variant options, they’re merged together under the “Lineitem Name” field (basically “Product Title - Variant Title”, where “Variant Title” is the combination of variant options separated by a “/”) as Renars mentioned.
Our app EZ Exporter can export Lineitem Properties and Variant Options as well. You can also export all properties/options in one column or place each property/option in a separate column in the CSV/Excel file.
