Pay for Shopify Theme or spend on advertising?

Hiya,

I was wondering if anyone out there could give some advice please, it’s on whether to spend some money on a new Shopify theme or use the cash for google ads.

The website is on a free Shopify theme at the moment - www.casafenix.co.uk

Also, is there a price point where themes become professional as it were? I am assuming $250-350?

Thank you in advance.
Mike

Hi @CasaFenix , it’s Garcia here from the PageFly team, a Shopify Page Builder app.

It’s great to see that you’ve come this far on your entrepreneurial journey. Regarding your question about whether to buy a theme or pay for ads, my suggestion is, if you’re on a tight budget and have to choose between the two:

  • Optimize your current store using the Shopify Dawn theme. Your store has much room to grow and optimize for better performance.
  • Save the budget and invest in strategic ads. You can always come back and upgrade to a paid theme once you start making a profit or feel ready for it later.

Why do I think the Dawn theme itself can be stunning? Here are some of the store examples that use the Dawn Theme:

  • Runner Astheletic:

  • ULX Store:

  • Jimbobart:

Suggestion to optimize your current store:

1. Remove redundant code and optimize the hero banner.

I screenshot the code. Plus, the CTA button should be visible in your store’s first scroll.

2. Add a favicon logo.

3. Add more white space.

4. Improve collection image quality.

Your product images are actually really nice; however, those that are shown in the homepage need more improvement on the resolution and asthetic.

5. Add more sections in the product page to increase your store credibility.

They should be placed between these 2 sections:

  • Icon section:

  • If your products are on sale, highlight it:

  • Add a product review section:

I’m confident these tips will enhance your store and boost conversion rates. I wish you the best in your endeavors. Keep up the great work!

Cheers,

You need to determine what your problem is – whether you have not enough visitors or your conversion rate is low.

Not enough visitors – pay for ads.

Conversion rate is low – improve your site content and user experience.

Also consider trust factors – they are important for conversions.

I guess at this stage its more visitors needed, so will concentrate on that , thank you.

Having a nice store setup bring more customers to your store so I will advise you get a new theme for your store and I got a supplier who could give you the theme for low budget and you can use the rest for the ads setup and get more sales to your store

That maybe of interest

Hi Garcia , thank you very much for your detailed reply. I will go through each of your points carefully, thank you again.
