POS Not Charging Taxes on In Store Purchases

My POS stopped charges taxes on in store purchases. The items are check marked to charge taxes and we’ve re-downloaded the app, but it’s still not charging taxes.

Did you figure out a solution? Im experiencing the sale with POS not charging taxes, which seemed to start around the same time as yours. All items are marked to charge tax, as physical products, and my tax info is updated.

I’m having the same problem, just noticed it yesterday when I tried to process an order in the app. Last week it was charging tax, my online shop is still charging tax and I haven’t changed any settings. Today is Farmers Market, I’m actually hoping for a slow day because of this, calculating totals manually is gonna be a bitch!

I am also experiencing this issue! I feel like it is a bug with the new POS update. Some items will not charge taxes, some will. Doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to it.

So I just asked another local business near me here in Richmond, Virginia and turns out it’s tax free weekend. So any single clothing item under $100 does not get charged tax automatically. Seems insane to me that Shopify would not notify their POS users of this. Not sure what other items this applies to either.

What this also means is a customer can pick out as many items as they want under $100 and it will not charge tax.

This is happening to us to!!! I’ve been in contact with Shopify Help Center and they assured me it would be fixed over night and NOPE, still happening today! I think it’s a bug in the update. Fix it Shopify!

I’ve been in touch with retail support team since last night. It appears there is either a bug in the upgrade or Shopify has somehow opted us into Tax Fee Weekend without our knowledge. Nobody will tell me what is happening.
