Pre-launch email signup as landing page with movie in background - Dawn theme

Hi all -

I need to open up my website to allow customers to join our mailing list before we officially open for business later this year.

I want something that’s visually simple: A movie/video background, some simple text and the email field.

See screenshot below with the pink background; this is a mockup of the ideal outcome. Note that this takes up the whole screen, ie., there’s no expectation to scroll up/down or navigate to another page.

QUESTIONS

1a) Can someone tell me the best way to get a movie in the background of the email field? I used the “Video Background” feature to add the video but all I can do is add Header text to it, i.e., I can’t put the email field on top of the video.

1b) How do I “stretch” the email field so that I can have it take up the whole screen? Right now since I’m using the Video Background feature, there’s a white bar below.

NOTES:

  1. If it helps, I’m open to not using Dawn if there’s another template that’s easier to work with for this.

  2. I’m using the native shopify email collection feature right now but i’m open to using a third party (ex.: mailchimp) if easier to manipulate

Basically, I’m open to changing whatever if it means I can build this page

Hi @aspiringvegan There are 3rd party themes through which you can accomplish the same with easier way, you will need to find the themes in the shopify theme store.

It can be possible with shopify as well, you need to add the custom code so that it will work according to your need, and to provide you the exact code I will need the access of your store, so that I can provide you the same.

Also you don’t need to move to 3rd party email app (like mailchimp or klaviyo) as shopify will work well by default.

If you will unable to implement the same then I’m happy to do this for you, let me know. I can implement the code changes so that this will work well for you.

hi sahilsharma9515. i’m new to building on shopify so i think you’re saying that out of the box, the dawn theme is incapable of doing this page, correct? and that i would need to use a non-shopify built theme to achieve ? do you have any recommendations? for pre-launch, im just trying to do something straightforward but may need a shopify dev in the future
