A Shopify store owner reports that product page prices don’t multiply when customers increase quantity using the selector—the price remains static at the unit cost. However, the cart page correctly displays the total price for multiple items.
Key Points:
The issue occurs on the product page’s quantity selector
Cart functionality works correctly
Screenshots were provided showing the problem
Conflicting Perspectives:
One respondent argues this is default behavior and actually preferable, as product pages typically show unit prices while carts show line-item totals. They warn that displaying dynamic total prices on product pages may violate EU/German consumer protection laws regarding price display requirements, and recommend consulting legal counsel before modification.
Other users disagree, stating they experience the same problem and believe the price should update dynamically with quantity changes.
Status: The discussion remains unresolved with no technical solution provided. The legal compliance concern regarding price display in EU markets has been raised but not addressed.

I just have a problem with my Shopify store. Everything is okay but on the product page when I select 2items by selecting with quantity the price is not updating on the product page. But in the cart page that’s okay.
When I select 2 items by quantity the price needs to SHOW DOUBLE on the product page but it’s no change. The cart page is okay. It’s showing the right price.
@digantasarkar01 this is actually the default and in my opinion also the normally desired behavior. Usually the unit price is being displayed on a product page. In the cart you get the line-item total.
It’s not like this can’t be modified by a few lines of code, but really it’s not a problem your shop is having. On the contrary – I think (unless you have a special use case when it comes to your customers) what you describe would confuse buyers and I doubt that this would drive conversions up. If you must have this behavior modified, I would not advise to modify the unit price, but maybe add an additional element that displays a total of the price times the units selected. That’s also something that can be added by an expert in about an hour.
Hey, Thanks for your reply. I’m not a Shopify expert. I don’t know to code. I think it’s normal that show the total price of selecting number of items in product page. I need it.
@digantasarkar01 alright, I get that you really want this. I technically could build this for you. However, I would heavily advise you to have this desired behaviour checked by a legal council first. In the EU and especially Germany, we have rather strict rules on how to display prices for customers. Unless a legal advisor signs off on this, I would not feel comfortable modifying the frontend in that way.
