product images disappearing when hovered; studio theme

I’m using the studio theme for ecommerce, product images on the catalogue and product pages are disappearing when hovered over. I’ve used the AI assistant which has suggested no issues with CSS and likely java script. I’m a total novice and need an easy solution. I have not made any known changes to images.

Desired outcome - either to show an alternative product image when hovered, or to do nothing.
