QUICKBOOKS DESKTOP Connection solution

Topic summary

Goal: replace a deprecated Fishbowl–Shopify API workflow without paying $500/month for Sellware, and connect four Shopify stores to a single QuickBooks Desktop file with automatic invoice and PO creation.

Key points:

  • The Fishbowl API used with Shopify is deprecated; the proposed Fishbowl path via Sellware costs $500/month, which is rejected.
  • Multiple replies recommend a custom integration. One developer clarified their existing apps don’t support QuickBooks, but a bespoke app could be built.
  • Another suggestion cites the QuickBooks API to push Shopify purchase events and mentions a Shopify “QuickBooks” app with poor reviews; an edited note points to a newer “QB Connector” app with better reviews.

Latest update and constraints:

  • The recommended Shopify QuickBooks app appears incompatible with QuickBooks Desktop (it likely targets QuickBooks Online), which does not meet the requester’s needs.

Status and next steps:

  • No final solution selected. The most viable path is commissioning a custom integration explicitly for QuickBooks Desktop that can map invoices and POs from all four stores. Compatibility with Desktop must be verified before proceeding. The thread remains open.

Hoping someone can help we have been using Fishbowl inventory management software for over 5 years with limited issues in conjunction with the Shopify API. I recently got a message from Shopify that the Fishbowl API has been deprecated. Now Fishbowl is attempting to charge us $500 monthly to use the sellware API. I refuse to go this route since embezzlement. I have 4 stores I need to connect to 1 QuickBooks desktop file. I just need the invoices and purchase orders to auto-populate into the QuickBooks desktop. Does anyone have a recommendation for the best solution? This is beyond frustrating.

I would recommend to go for custom application development. Buy vs Build. Let me know if you want quote from my side.

Does this synch to QuickBooks desktop? How many user do you have currently?

I think we are not on same page. What I means is, you have to go for custom application development and we can do custom app.

If you are talking about our app Synkron or Reporting Agent ? None of our app do integration with QB. Are you interested in ?

@waveband Quickbook has an API you can use to connect to Shopify purchase events. This is a custom solution I recommend getting an expert to do this for you. I checked Quickbook has an App but it doesn’t have good reviews.

Edit: it seems like they created a new version here that has some great reviews.

I have Quickbooks desktop this does not appear to be compatible with desktop.
