Is there a way to actually archive products? They say they are “archived” but all that seems to affect is a sort function when I look at my products. They still show up when trying to print price labels, adjust inventory, and do point of sale transactions. I don’t want to delete items completely because I do look back at them periodically, but I would be okay with a way to look at just archived items and then if I want to reactivate them I can do so. I get tired of having to scroll past hundreds of old items when I am trying to do things.
Topic summary
Users are experiencing issues with the product archiving feature in their POS system. Currently, archived products still appear in multiple areas including:
- Price label printing
- Inventory adjustments
- Point of sale transactions
The archive function only affects the sort/filter option when viewing the products list, not other operational areas. Users want true archiving that:
- Completely hides archived items from day-to-day operations
- Allows access to archived product information when needed
- Enables reactivation when desired
One user notes that “Inactive” mode already exists to prevent items from showing up for sale, so “Archive” should serve its distinct purpose of fully removing items from active views while preserving historical data. Multiple users confirm experiencing this same limitation, particularly problematic when managing seasonal or limited-edition products.
Status: Issue remains unresolved; no official response or workaround provided yet.
Yes, I am familiar with that sort function, but it only works when I am looking at products. There is no button like that for printing labels or editing inventory.
I thought I was the only one. I have products which go out of stock for a long time (yearly releases of limited edition drinks for example). I want to keep the product information around, but don’t want to see it in my inventory reports when ordering, and etc. Archiving should REALLY archive it somewhere hidden so that any info is accessible when un-archived. If we wanted to not have it show up for sale, we have the “Inactive” mode for products…so “Archive” should serve its actual purpose and actually archive my items.
Yes!! Exactly!!
