Report to export Purchased Inventory Through the Year

I’m trying to run a report, preferably built in (without 3rd party app) where I can see what the total quantity of a product I purchased for a time frame.

I use the Purchase Order function in shopify to receive my inventory.

Right now I’m using the “Percent of Inventory Sold” report. I have the columns narrowed down to simply Variant ID and Starting Quantity.

This works for only about half my items where it is accurate…the other half don’t register anything. I am banging my head against the wall trying to figure this out.

I have a newer account, and have used the Purchase order functionality since day one with all my items received.

I can find an item on the report where it shows for example I sold 3 qty…but never had any to start. But then other items work spot on.

I’ve tried talking to shopify support and it’s going in circles. One reply told me they found and error (bug) and corrected it…while it still shows zero received when i re-run the report.

Needless to say I’m not impressed. I tried using 3rd party data exporting apps in shopify (like Product Data Exporter Pro) and there does not appear to be any way to export the quantity from Purchase Orders.

Does anyone know of a way to simply run the total inventory received by each variant during a timeframe?

Thanks!

Hi @AuntieChristmas ,
This is Theodore from PageFly - Shopify Page Builder App.

The “Percent of Inventory Sold” report might not be accurate for your purchase orders. Here’s how to track inventory received:

1. Inventory Stock Level History Report (Built-in):

This report provides a more detailed picture of inventory changes. Here’s how to access it:

  • Go to Reports > Inventory.
  • Click on Inventory Stock Level History.
  • Set your desired time frame using the date picker.
  • In the “Group By” section, select “Variant”.

This report will show you the starting and ending stock levels for each variant within the timeframe, along with any adjustments made during that period. By analyzing the starting stock levels, you can identify the total quantity received for each variant.

2. Leverage Orders with “Created At” Filter (Workaround):

This method involves filtering orders placed with your suppliers:

  • Go to Reports > Orders.
  • In the “Filters” section, under “Fulfillment status”, choose “Unshipped”. This will show purchase orders you placed with suppliers (assuming they weren’t marked as fulfilled).
  • Use the “Created At” date filter to specify your desired timeframe.
  • In the “Items” section, you can see the variant and quantity ordered for each purchase order.

Best regards,
Theodore | PageFly

Thank you!

I tried the first report you suggested…

Go to Reports > Inventory

Unfortunately, I don’t have access to that report…I’m on the Basic Shopify plan. Could that be a report only available for higher packages?

Here’s what I see under Reports>Inventory…

I’m looking to try your second option, but I’m not certain what report under orders I’m supposed to be running. I have an option 6 reports under the order category.

  • Go to Reports > Orders.

Hey @AuntieChristmas , you can make an Inventory Purchased report with Locale. Let me know if you need assistance in setting this up, I can help you on a quick 10-minute chat.
