Hi everyone. I have a store “livingandliving.com” and I have been trying to advertise popular products. I tried using UGC ads on Tiktok and ads on Facebook. I notice that I have a CTR of like 1%, and the people that visit my site wwill quite often add a product to cart, but none of them actually checkout. I think there might be something wrong with my site but I can’t find out what it is by myself, maybe there are any experts that could give me some feedback. Thanks in advance!
Hi @spelt ,
Thanks for reaching out to the community. I’m Lindseyfrom BON: Loyalty Rewards Referrals.
If customers add items to their cart but don’t complete the checkout process, it’s likely because the checkout is too complicated. I experienced this myself—it was challenging to complete a purchase, and I gave up. I recommend optimizing the checkout process as much as possible. Consider adding guest checkout options and various payment methods to accommodate different customer preferences. Additionally, having customer support available to assist during checkout could be very helpful. I hope my answer will help you.
If you find these suggestions helpful for you, please let me know by giving BON Loyalty a ‘LIKE’ or marking it as a ‘SOLUTION’.
Cheers,
Lindsey
Hi @spelt ,
I am from Mageplaza - Shopify solution expert.
I would be happy to review your website and provide feedback on the performance. Here are my recommendations to improve your conversion rate and UX/UI of your website:
1. Monitor Your Cart Abandonment Rate
A high cart abandonment rate can be particularly frustrating for your business, especially after investing significantly in attracting visitors to your site. This issue indicates that many potential customers are deciding not to complete their purchases, contributing to low conversion rates.
To address this, you can remind customers about the items left in their carts and encourage them to complete their purchases by:
- Email Reminders: Send emails to customers who abandon their carts, reminding them of their items.
- Incentives: Offer a discount or free shipping to motivate them to finalize their purchases.
- For more detailed guidance, refer to an article from the Shopify Help Center
2. Adding promotional sections on homepage
You should add promotional sections such as Best sellers, New arrivals, On sale, etc on the homepage to catch the attention of customers instead of just showing product categories. Here is a reference:
3. Banner
The current banners are too general, you should use a high-quality, eye-catching hero banner with a clear value proposition and a strong call-to-action (CTA). Highlight any ongoing sales, new arrivals, or bestsellers. Below is a reference
4. Add more section on the navigation bar
To make the navigation bar more informative, you should add several sections:
4.1. About Us page
An About Us page is a section on a website that provides information about a company, organization, or individual. It’s an opportunity to tell your brand’s story, share your vision, introduce team members, and outline your history, values, and achievements. This is where you build trust and credibility with customers. Here is a reference:
4.2. Support section
You should add privacy policy and return policy on the footer to the navigation bar - an easy to spot position. Adding info this will address purchasing hesitation quickly and encourage customers to buy your products. Here is a reference
5. Fix Shop now
Here is Shop now, but nothing showing when I click on it. Please check and fix this.
6. Search bar
You should enhance the search by making larger product images, showing pricing, adding search by brand, search by collection to improve search bar. Below is a reference, with larger pictures, it provides a better experience.
7. Other industry favorites
You should add ATC or wish list buttons to encourage customers buying your products on this section. Make price and discount information more noticeable. Here is reference
I hope some of my suggestions are helpful, feel free to give me any feedback.
Good luck!
Hi @spelt
I checked out your situation carefully, and I can see that you’re getting some engagement—people are adding products to their carts, which is a good sign! This means your ads and product selection are working to an extent. However, if users aren’t checking out, there’s likely something stopping them from completing their purchase. Let’s break this down and find out what could be causing the drop-off.
1. Check Your Checkout Process for Friction
If people are adding to cart but not buying, something is likely making them hesitate at checkout. Here’s what to check:
- Extra costs at checkout: Unexpected shipping fees or taxes can scare customers away. Try a test order yourself to see if anything seems off.
- Complicated checkout flow: Shopify makes it simple, but make sure you aren’t asking for too many details. Enable Shopify’s one-page checkout if possible.
- Limited payment options: If you’re not offering PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or even Buy Now, Pay Later (like Klarna or Shop Pay Installments), you might be losing customers who prefer different methods.
2. Site Speed & Mobile Experience Matter a Lot
Many TikTok and Facebook users browse from mobile, so your store must be fast and mobile-friendly. Run a Google PageSpeed test (https://pagespeed.web.dev/) and see if your site has slow-loading pages. If so, optimize images, use a faster Shopify theme, and remove unnecessary pop-ups.
3. Trust Signals Might Be Missing
People hesitate to buy if they don’t feel safe or reassured. Make sure you have:
- Clear return & refund policies linked on the product page and checkout.
- Customer reviews & testimonials—even if they’re from early testers, they help.
- Security badges (Shopify Secure, SSL encryption, etc.) displayed near checkout.
- A professional-looking design—messy layouts, low-quality images, or missing product descriptions can lower trust.
4. Cart Abandonment Emails & Retargeting Ads
Since visitors are adding to cart, but not checking out, you must set up:
- Cart abandonment emails via Shopify or Klaviyo. Shopify’s default one is okay, but Klaviyo lets you personalize it better.
- Retargeting ads on Facebook & TikTok that remind people of what they left in their cart (use dynamic product ads).
5. Check Analytics for Drop-Off Points
Go to Shopify Analytics → Behavior Reports and check where users are dropping off. Are they leaving at checkout? Are they abandoning their cart after shipping is calculated?
Final Thoughts
It’s great that your ads are getting people to your store and encouraging them to add items to their cart. Now, you need to fine-tune your site’s checkout experience and trust signals to push them to complete the purchase. Try these steps, and you’ll likely see an improvement.
If you need any other assistance, feel free to ask, and I will try my best to support you.
Best regards,
Daisy.
