Shopify is making small tax adjustments on some of our orders. Is anyone else seeing this? Why is this?

Thank you for reaching out to our network and sharing your question. Based on the details you have provided, I’m still a little unsure as to what kind of tax adjustments you might be experiencing. I assume you’re referencing tax on the orders being placed on your website, from a common region? That would explain why some orders have this, and others don’t.
If so, please provide the following details and I’d be glad to look into it:
- Example of an order with the tax rate that was applied
- Expected tax rate
- Your existing tax set-up (a screenshot would be ideal here from settings > taxes)

It’s authorizing the card, then for some reason adjusting the tax amount
and then charging the card for the final amount. It isn’t happening on all
orders but quite a few.
$36.56 USD was captured using a Visa
Tax amount was updated from $2.50 USD to $1.63 USD.
$37.43 USD was authorized using a Visa

Unfortunately that is not enough context for me to help you investigate exactly what happened here. To make it more clear, can you provide the expected tax amount and region, along with a screenshot of your tax settings for that region? Then, we can compare that against what was authorized and ultimately charged.
Furthermore, since the amount authorized is more than the amount cleared, it’s possible there was a currency conversion depending on the customer’s location. Just in case you’re uncomfortable providing any of this information through our public spaces then I can alternatively invite you to connect with our Live Team for investigation into some example orders.

forum. I have tried connecting with someone in the chat help center but end

To help them better understand the issue, you can link them to this forum post along with providing clear examples of your expected experience and what is actually happening. Having screenshots at hand and real orders will be necessary for further troubleshooting.
