I have a collab with a client that has their own Shopify Store. They want to have our product as an “added bonus” to their product offerings. How would you go about automating fulfillment through a different Shopify Account?
Would the easiest thing be to set up our product in their Shopify store and just fulfill by our vendor?
Yes I would do that, add the product to their store. You could do a buy button but I think having it as a regular product where they can add to the cart would be best.
For fulfillment, couple ideas:
A) If you have a close relationship with them, you could request a staff account, so that your team can check orders and add the tracking.
B) If they don’t want to do a staff account, then when they get an order with your product, have them forward you the order confirmation so your store can fulfill the item. When your business ships it, send them the tracking to update. You can automate the first part of that (and maybe the 2nd, depending on your setup) using Order Automator.
C) You could build a custom app that communicates with both stores, to listen for orders, send notifications, update tracking, etc. Not sure this would be worth the time / cost, but it’s the option to have everything customized exactly as you wish.
D) You could have the product on both stores, and when they get the order, someone from their team buys the product from your store, then your business ships the product to them (or to the customer, but then the branding would be different from the rest of their products).
Those are the scenarios I’ve seen for dropshipping stores, hope one of em helps.
With this method you would then bill them for each order (or every week / month, etc).
