All boutique websites, including mine have been going real slow especially in the afternoon. Photos of products are not loading. I have tried multiple browsers, cleared cache cookies, contact my internet provider and other websites like amazon facebook home depot etc are loading fine. Who can we contact to let them know our websites are going slow?? Outsiders can seem to get on fine, and do not see this slowdown. I am so baffled. I am on PC and same issue on tablet for me. Is anyone else having this issue? I can’t seem to pinpoint what is going on. Also Comcast came and put in a new line, and I have ATT. Are these cables, lines competing?
Hi @Debra_Jambor .
Hope you are having a fantastic day!
This sounds like a local network issue, not Shopify. Try your site on mobile data to confirm. Contact ATT and mention the Comcast line installation, as it may be causing interference.
Check Shopify’s status page at shopifystatus.com to rule out any platform issues on their end.
Since your customers are seeing the site just fine, the good news is that your Shopify store isn’t actually broken. The problem is likely a “traffic jam” between your home and the Shopify servers. Afternoon slowdowns often happen when your internet provider is busy or “throttles” certain paths during peak hours. Don’t worry about the ATT and Comcast lines competing; they don’t work like that. It’s just a routing issue where your specific internet connection is struggling to reach the image servers.
To test this, try turning off the Wi-Fi on your phone and using your cellular data instead. If the site loads fast, you’ll know for sure it’s your home internet causing the lag. You can also try using a VPN, which can help “reroute” your connection past the traffic jam.
