Set $6 International Shipping but Customers Charged $10–$18

Topic summary

A Shopify store owner configured flat-rate international shipping ($6) and free shipping over $75, but customers were being charged $10–$18 instead.

Root cause identified:
Printify’s app was automatically creating weight-based shipping profiles that overrode the manual settings. Products were split across two separate Printify profiles, causing:

  • Weight-based rates ($10–$18) instead of the intended $6 flat rate
  • Double charges when customers ordered items from both profiles

Key findings from screenshots:

  • Only “App Shipping Profiles” were visible in settings
  • Printify created 8 profiles with zones (U.S., Canada, Australia, Rest of World)
  • Rates were calculated by weight, not flat rate

Solution implemented:
The store owner deleted both Printify shipping profiles, forcing products to default to the general (manual) shipping profile with the correct rates.

Note: Printify app-generated shipping profiles cannot be edited directly in Shopify—changes must be made in the Printify dashboard under Settings → Shipping.

I’ve already configured the shipping profiles, but they’re not working as expected. I tested the checkout process in my browser, and the shipping rates are not reflecting the ones I set.

Here’s what I intended:
*Free Shipping within the U.S.
*$6 International Shipping (Asia & Rest of the World)
*Free International Shipping for orders over $75

The product price is $39 per t-shirt.

I’m based in Singapore (Asia), so I should be charged:
$6 for 1 t-shirt
$0 for 2 t-shirts (as total exceeds $75)

However, the system charged:
$10 for 1 t-shirt
$14 for 2 t-shirts
$18 for 3 t-shirts

I have no idea where these rates are coming from, as I didn’t set them. Could anyone help me resolve this? Thank you.

I believe I’ve found the source of the current shipping rates. When checking the shipping profiles, I noticed that only App Shipping Profiles are visible.

Under the Printify App, it shows 8 profiles.

When I clicked into it, I saw that the last two profiles contain my products. Although I only sell one type of product, the items are split across these two profiles.

Inside one of the profiles, I noticed four zones: U.S., Canada, Australia, and Rest of the World — and the rates are set by weight, not flat rate. This appears to be the source of the $10–$18 charges under “Rest of the World.”

My questions are:

  1. Can I edit these two profiles directly?

  2. Will it cause any issues if my products are split across multiple shipping profiles? I ran a test and it seems I was charged twice when ordering products from both profiles.

Thanks in advance for your guidance.

Hello @jude_skylar ,

Yes, those weight‑based rates are coming straight from Printify’s app profiles, and Shopify is just honoring what Printify has set.

Unfortunately you can’t tweak those rates from Shopify itself. You’ll need to jump into your Printify dashboard (under Settings → Shipping) and adjust or consolidate your shipping zones and rates there.

Because your shirts live in two different Printify profiles, Shopify is simply adding each profile’s rate together at checkout then the double‑charges when someone orders from both.

The easiest fix is to merge all your products into a single Printify shipping profile with your $6 flat rate and free over $75 rule. If Printify won’t let you combine them, you could switch to manual fulfillment or explore another print‑on‑demand partner that gives you full control over your shipping profiles.

Thank you. I’ve deleted both of Printify’s shipping profiles, so by default, the products will now be assigned to the general shipping profile.
