I’m working with a merchant that sells subscriptions together with one-time purchases.
When a buyer creates a cart containing a subscription and a one-time purchase, Shopify will charge twice for shipping and add 2 shipping lines to the order. The recurring orders will only contain one shipping line for the subscription of course.
Since Subscription shipping always shows 1 option and only shows the cheapest option, I haven’t found a way to only make the buyer pay for a single shipping charge yet.
I have tried using apps like advanced shipping rules but haven’t found a solution with them so far.
I can’t be the only one having this issue with the number of subscription apps and stores out there.

You’re definitely not the only one. This has been an issue since day one. I don’t think I’ve seen a good solution for this, unfortunately.

When the Subscriptions is set to Fulfill Now - you should see that the shipping rate is included on the checkout, something like the following screenshot
When it’s set to Fulfill Later, you’ll see what you linked in your screenshot
What controls Fulfill Now vs Fulfill Later is the presence & configuration of the anchors on the delivery policy
- No anchors = Fulfill Now
- With anchors: This chart should help understand if the “First delivery date” is Fulfill Later
