A user inquires about limits when using Shopify’s native Bundles app, specifically regarding bundle creation, transactions, and variant constraints for a simple 2-product bundle setup.
Key Limitations Identified:
Maximum 100 variants per bundle (same as standard Shopify products)
Maximum 30 bundled products and 3 options per bundle
No limits on number of bundles created or transactions processed
Critical Issues Raised:
The original poster identifies significant drawbacks with Shopify Bundles:
Incompatible with major sales channels (Facebook, Instagram, Google, YouTube, TikTok, LinkedIn)
Orders display individual component products rather than the bundle itself
Bundle price gets split across component parts instead of showing as single line item
Alternative Solutions Proposed:
Multiple app vendors suggest alternatives:
Simple Bundles 1.0: Offers sales channel workarounds, displays bundles as single order line items with $0 component prices, and provides options to hide child products in customer communications. Free plan allows 3 bundles; paid plans have no limits.
Easify Product Options: Uses custom options linked to products as an alternative bundling approach.
Open Question:
One user asks whether fixed pricing/discounts can be applied to bundles instead of summing component prices—remains unanswered.

The only thing to be aware of is that bundles have a limit of 100 possible variants (which can happen if you have multiple colours/sizes etc).
But there is no limit of amount of bundles created or used.
There are no limits to the number of bundles that can be created or used.
A bundle is considered as a product. Therefore, limits for bundle options and variants are the same as other products: 30 bundled products, 3 options, and 100 variants/ bundle.
Customers can choose from options, such as size and color. Each option can include many variants.
If your bundle includes a many-option and many-variant product, your customers will select an option and a variant to get the bundle.
Inventory is updated in real-time, so you’re protected from overselling.
There are no limits for a customer to buy a bundle.
These are my recommendations. I truly hope it helps!
If you have any questions or there is a misunderstanding about which app you use, feel free to let me know.
I suggest considering the Easify Product Options app. While its approach to creating bundles differs from Shopify bundle apps, it effectively addresses potential limitations .
Specifically, you can set up the products you want to include in a bundle as custom options for the Bundle products. In other words, you’ll create custom options for your Bundle and then link these options to the products you want to include (using the Add-on product feature).
If you’re interested in trying the app, feel free to share more details about your products or bundles, and I can offer specific setup suggestions. Alternatively, you can also reach out to the Easify team for assistance.
We really like Shopify bundles in that it seems a LOT simpler than some of the bundling apps out there. On the downside are the following:
Doesn’t work with all of the sales channels available in Shopify [specifically FB, Instagram, LinkedIn, Google, YouTube & TikTok]
When an order is created it lists the component parts of the bundle rather than the bundle
More importantly, because of this it also splits the bundle price across the component parts of the bundle
We want just the bundle product noted on the order with the bundle price against it - we don’t want the component parts of the bundle listed there at all - any way to achieve this?
If you’re looking for a solution that keeps things simple while addressing your specific concerns, Simple Bundles 1.0 might be a great fit. Here’s how it can help:
Displaying Only the Bundle on Orders - The bundle products will appear in the order; however, the individual bundle items will show a price of $0.00 and can also be automatically fulfilled. Additionally, there is a simple way to hide these child products in customer orders and confirmation emails.
Inventory Tracking for Components - Simple Bundles automatically manages the inventory of its components in the background. This ensures your stock levels are accurately adjusted without cluttering the order with individual components.
Regarding your initial questions, I am happy to share my thoughts, too:
Limits on the Number of Bundles - If you’re using the Free Plan, you can create up to three bundles at a time. On the Pro Plan and higher plans, there are no limits to the number of bundles you can create or use. Whether you’re managing a few bundles or scaling up to hundreds, Simple Bundles can handle it all seamlessly.
Limits on Transactions - There are no restrictions on the number of transactions for bundle products, regardless of the plan you’re on. Simple Bundles processes orders efficiently, even with high transaction volumes. The app is optimized for Shopify’s infrastructure, ensuring your bundles are processed quickly and accurately, regardless of how many orders you receive.
Hope this helps you! If you have any questions, we’re so happy to guide you through. Please feel free to reach out to our support team (hello@simplebundles.io). See you there!
Hi! I am quite interested in this solution, but is it possible to set up a discount in the meantime. As the screenshot for example, let’s say the sum of the unit price of chosen burger, fries, drinks and dessert is 26.96, is it possible we just offer as a fix price for this meal instead?
