Any specific SEO tricks for Shopify?
For collections:
- Target keyword in title, anchor text of links pointing to the collection, collection name, and description.
- Build collections for all of the ways that a user might describe your products. If you’re not sure, type the base name of your product into Google (e.g. if you sell specialty denim, you might search for [jeans]) and see which filters Google displays on the lefthand side of desktop results. These are the dimensions that you should be building collections for (
- e.g. for [jeans] you’ll see target gender, fit, style, color, etc.) - build collections for all of those different values as long as you have 3-5 products to display. So you might build collections for “mens jeans,” “womens jeans,” “skinny jeans,” “black jeans,” you get the idea. This is the biggest opportunity for most merchants.
For expanding into the US, I’d look into Markets and seeing if you can buy the .com for your domain. It’s going to be harder to target the US from something like .ca/us/. If you can’t buy the .com, perhaps another TLD would work.
If you see pages falling in/out of the index, then this is suggestive that the pages are not important enough. Importance can be based on the user demand for those pages (queries) and the popularity of the domain that is hosting the pages (your website, its demand, and the popularity link signals pointing to it).
This is explained more here by Adam Gent.
Fixing it would require:
- Making your pages faster to crawl (might not be an issue, I cannot say)
- Earning more links to your site
- Adding more internal links to your product pages
- Getting more people to search for your brand through other methods.
There is not any special SEO for Shopify stores that does not apply to any other platform.
I have seen success when making listings available in local currency. Recently changed EU to euros and saw a increase in orders from Ireland.
