Shopify Discount Tags, Shopify Discount Codes and Tiered Discounts

Over the years we have “tagged” our largest customers with “VIP15” or other tags to automatically receive discounts on their purchases. We also use Shopify Discount Codes. Within the last 12 months we’ve chosen an app from the Shopify App Store that supports automatic tiered discounts. For whatever reason the “tagged” customers are not receiving the automatic “VIP15” (or whatever other tag value that was set up). However all customers receive the Automatic Tiered Discounts from the app if they meet the criteria defined in the app. Does the Automatic Tiered Discount app, override the “tagged” customer’s discount? Is “tagging” a particular set of customers to receive an automatic discount thru Shopify still functional? Thanks!

Greetings, @Alex631 .

Thank you for reaching out and posting this question!

I understand that customer tagging for discounts isn’t working or has a conflict with another app that you’re using. Just to confirm, customer tagging for discounts still works and is used by many apps. For example. Bold Custom Pricing allows for different levels of VIP pricing by simply apply a tag to the customer accounts.

It’s also important to note that discount codes can’t be stacked, so if your apps are applying a code - then it’s possible that only one of the discounts will appear in checkout. However, since the issue you’re running into is between third-party apps, I’d recommend reaching out to the developers to see if this is something they can help you with. You can reach out to them directly through the contact information found in the Support section of their app’s page.

I’d love to know if the developer can help you identify and resolve the issue. Keep me posted!
