Hi everyone,

I hope all are doing well. We’ve been encountering an issue with our Shopify embedded app in the last 2 days, specifically when users click on navigation links. The error message received is a “Server Error.”

@shopify/app-bridge-react”: “^3.4.3”

We haven’t made any recent changes on our end, and this issue seems to have surfaced unexpectedly.

  • Is anyone else in the community facing a similar problem with their Shopify embedded apps?
  • Has anyone experienced a “Server Error” specifically related to navigation link clicks recently?

Any insights, suggestions, or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated. It’s crucial for us to identify if this is a widespread issue or if there might be specific steps we can take to troubleshoot on our end.

Thank you in advance for your help!

We have the same problem and have also reproduced it on other apps. Something is broken at Shopify’s end. We reported this about 15 hours ago and have tried to chase it up. They don’t seem to be taking it remotely seriously as we’ve heard nothing and their service status shows everything as OK.

There are a few other threads on here about this:

https://community.shopify.com/c/shopify-apps/some-apps-not-working-properly/td-p/2390464

This thread is also the same problem:

https://community.shopify.com/c/shopify-apps/apolloerror-variable-appid-of-type-id-was-provided-invalid-value/td-p/2390209

If you open your console, you’ll see the same error message mentioned in this thread.

We have lots of people complaining. For most apps, it’s an install issue, but if you use online staff sessions like we do, it means the app is completely broken.

@CloverApps We are also facing the same issue. how do you report to the Shopify Team.

Yes, I’m experiencing the same issue. It’s difficult to know how to report issues as there is no easily accessible dedicated support function.

You can contact the Shopify Partners teams from within your Partners account. Just click Support in the left column then click Contact Partner Support.

I initially reported this via the contact form because if you select the API option as the contact reason it won’t let you open a chat. The other options do though and you can then talk to the Partners team.

We are also suddenly getting the same “Server error” toast on initial app load. App loads fine if we refresh the page. Definitely seems to be a shopify issue.

Shopify told us it had been fixed, but it hasn’t. The latest I’ve heard from them is this:

“it was highlighted that the fix implemented was somehow blocked and they have pushed through once again and it shall roll out by tomorrow”

Meanwhile the complaints from our users keep coming in and Shopify support are telling users it’s the apps fault and nothing is wrong on their end, and the service status still says everything is fine. We’ve asked Shopify to at least update the status, but they have so far refused.

Yes, we also have no problems now. It seemed to get fixed at about 3PM GMT yesterday. We had an email at 3AM today from Shopify advising us it’s fixed.

You’re a lot more understanding than we are! Our idea of quickly resolving the issue would be a few hours at most. Our app was completely broken for 42 hours, with Shopify putting the blame for that on our app to any store owners that asked.

This appears to still be an issue. I’m following the Shopify directions to use the shopify app template remix and I’m getting this:

Error: shopify.toast can't be used in a server environment. You likely need to move this code into an Effect.

Same here. Standard remix app template with a new theme app extension. I commented the UseEffect block to get around.
