We already have EIN, Business Registration & Banking Information under the Business Address, and wondering why the Proof of Address, such as utility bill/leasing agreement, is needed at the same time? As we support the customer service through email or messenger apps, we don’t really have a local phone number or a utility bill as the building is a co-sharing office. It would be nice, is there any way this can be waived or be replaced with a different piece of information?
It won’t be able to waived or for different documentation to be used. In terms of why they are needed and at the same time is explained in the Shopify Payments Terms of Service here in section B.3.
I’m living with my parents so the utility bills are not in my name, is there any other document that I can upload? I used an paycheck addressed to me but it wasn’t accepted.
In some countries a bank statement can also work, but not all. Can you try using a bank statement to see if that gets accepted.

I live in Turkey and I have a company in the UK. I want to use Shopify payments, but proof of address is required. is there a solution to this? Can an invoice be sent to the company address?
1.) You would need to have a significant operating presence including a permanent address in the UK for this to be possible, a forwarding addresses wouldn’t be sufficient in a case like this.
2.) This would be a question for Stripe on whether or not Stripe will support you, Shopify wouldn’t have control over a decision they make. But with that said, you can enable Stripe from the admin of your store also. You can contact Stripe directly from their support here too.
Hi, I see on my admin page that my payments are on hold, and that I need to provide a copy of a utility bill. I am currently renting a room and the utilities bills are in my roommates name, is there another type of document I can provide?
In this case, you can use a bank statement which is no older than 3 months. The key factor here is for your address to be verified with an official statement of some kind.
I have a legitimate adress and is the same one i put in the Shopify account but the bills come in my fathers name not my name
so what document should i apply if not bills
It would need to be in your own name and not your fathers. Can I ask which country you’re based in, please? Depending on which country you’re based in, it can vary slightly. Generally if you don’t have a utility I’d recommend a bank statement since you’d need a bank account for SP payouts anyway it’s usually a winner. In some cases a phone bill can also work.
Hi, would you mind sharing how you solved this issue. I am in a similar situation where I have a UK LTD but cannot submit proof of business address like a utility bills, only agreement or letter from the address company.

After this can I get some detailed information I have ordered a Giffgaff sim at my company name on my company address, whenever I will receive the sim I will apply for the bill, can it be verified as a utility bill because there is no other way to approve my utility bill. I have verified my identity but now stuck at the point of utility bill. Can you explain more with if any other things will be required in future or any other utility bill can help me further. If your business is based in the UK then you will need business or verifying documents based in the UK and not Pakistan. Yeah I have contacted the shopify advisor multiple times, but what they can do is out of there reach. They demand a utility bill from me based on UK address, how can I generate that? there is no service for a utility bill in my package. Can you help me out with it more that any other solution to prove my identity.
