Shopify ID verification for shopify payments

Is your issue resolved, and how?

kindly help me also if it is resolved till now

Hi @Bil1 .

You need to prove your identity for this for security and privacy reasons. Unfortunately it’s not possible without proving your identity!

Hello @Nick

Can you provide the list of banks of Uk whose statements can be used and is “Monzo” statement is acceptable?

Hi @Gizmr ,

The bank would need to be a bank based in the UK with an address there. The reason for this is to prove and verify that the business is active and within the UK. Online banks such as Monzo might not be able to verify this and thus might not be accepted.

Hey @Bil1 is your issue resolved? if so please do share with me I am stuck at same problem, Thanks!

hey @Nick , Hope you are doing good? I am 20 & half I dont have utility bill on my name, but I do have internet & phone bill on my name can I submit that?

Hi @MAMZA120 ,

Yes, they should be ok to submit as a proof of address! As long as they have the same name as you have registered for your business and Shopify store.

Hi! Since you’re a non-resident with a UK LTD company, you’re not alone—many people operate UK-registered businesses while living abroad. However, Shopify Payments has strict KYC (Know Your Customer) and AML (Anti-Money Laundering) requirements, especially in the UK.

Here’s why you’re facing issues:

Shopify Payments requires proof of identity and proof of address that matches UK residency standards—typically a UK passport or driver’s license plus a recent utility bill or bank statement with a UK address. As a non-UK resident, that’s hard to provide, and it may lead to Shopify Payments rejecting or suspending your account.

Recommended Solution: WallidPay

WallidPay is a fully integrated Shopify payment gateway that accepts UK LTDs owned by non-residents and doesn’t require UK utility bills.

Benefits:

  • Accepts non-UK residents with UK LTDs

  • No utility bills or UK address required for verification

  • Fast and easy onboarding

  • Instant payout and full Shopify integration

  • Accepts high-risk industries (CBD, supplements, vape, etc.)

Here’s what Shopify Payments usually requires for identity and address verification:1. Proof of ID

Passport or National ID (must match your name on company docs)

  1. Proof of Address (UK)
This is where non-residents often get stuck — Shopify wants a UK utility bill or bank statement showing:

    • Your name

    • A UK residential address

But if you’re not actually living in the UK, you likely don’t have either — and Shopify Payments will reject your application.

Alternative Solution: Use WallidPay

Since you’re a non-resident with a UK LTD, I strongly recommend you use WallidPay, a payment gateway that:

  • Accepts UK LTDs run by non-residents

  • Doesn’t require UK residency or utility bills

  • Supports dropshipping and other high-risk niches

  • Integrates directly with Shopify
