Hello,
I live in Azerbaijan and have established an online company in the UK. The company address I obtained is considered a digital address, and therefore, I am unable to use Shopify Payments. Can I use Shopify Payments by utilizing a virtual office?
Topic summary
A user in Azerbaijan with a UK-registered company cannot access Shopify Payments due to using a digital/virtual business address rather than a physical UK location.
Key Requirements for Shopify Payments (UK):
- Registered business with a genuine UK residential or business address
- Supporting documentation (utility bills, lease agreements)
- UK-issued identification
- Evidence of physical operations within the UK
Current Situation:
Virtual office addresses do not satisfy Shopify Payments’ verification requirements, even with a legitimate UK company registration. The user’s Azerbaijan home address cannot be used as a substitute.
Suggested Alternative:
WallidPay is recommended as a payment solution specifically designed for non-UK residents operating UK companies. It offers faster onboarding without residency requirements and instant payouts with full Shopify integration.
The discussion remains unresolved regarding Shopify Payments access, but a viable third-party alternative has been identified.
Hi @Febi ,
In order to successfully use Shopify Payments you must have a registered business in the country you are signing up with. If you are running your business from your home, then you would use your home address for registration.

My home address is in Azerbaijan, but the company I will open here will not work on Shopify. Can’t I use a virtual office address?
Hi,
Unfortunately, Shopify Payments does not accept digital or virtual office addresses as valid proof of UK residency or business operations. They typically require:
-
A real UK residential or business address with utility bills or lease documents in your name
-
A UK-issued ID
-
Often, proof of physical operations (like inventory or fulfillment from within the UK)
So even if you have a UK LTD, Shopify Payments is unlikely to approve your account if you’re using only a digital/virtual address and living outside the UK.
Recommended Alternative: WallidPay
Since Shopify Payments won’t work in your case, WallidPay is a great option. It’s designed for:
-
Non-residents who own UK LTDs
-
Dropshippers and online sellers without physical UK presence
With WallidPay, you get:
-
Fast onboarding without UK residency
-
Instant payouts (unlike Shopify Payments which may hold funds)
-
Full Shopify integration
