Shopify vs. PhotoDeck for photographers using WhiteWall app

I’m not sure if I’ll be able to get an answer to this question as it’s so specific to the WhiteWall app and Shopify.

I’m a photographer wanting to sell my photographs. I created a trial account with Shopify but I noticed the WhiteWall app lacks important functionality that would allow prospective customers to see the various print options in real time. There’s just a link to the option, but no thumbnail or description like PhotoDeck/WhiteWall app provides.

I’m disappointed that Shopify’s WhiteWall app is lacking as I like Shopify a lot better than PhotoDeck. Am I out of luck with Shopify or can Shopify perhaps work with WhiteWall to provide a more intuitive app design like PhotoDeck has with WhiteWall.

Hi @frankbiganski ,

Thanks for sharing your experience. I see how vital it is for customers to be able to view real-time previews of print options when they buy your photography.

Although the WhiteWall app on Shopify is not as integrated as PhotoDeck, there are a couple of possible workarounds:

Custom Product Options App – Apps such as “Variant Image Automator” or “Infinite Options” can assist in showing image variations based on print types in Shopify.

Custom Development – If you don’t mind a little coding, a developer might add more functionality to WhiteWall integration by showing preview thumbnails dynamically.

Reaching WhiteWall Support – It might be worthwhile to contact WhiteWall and find out if they are considering enhancing their Shopify app’s functionality.

Alternative Print-on-Demand Apps – Other apps such as Printful or Gelato could potentially provide a smoother experience for displaying print variations in Shopify.

I just wanted to post a follow up that all is well in my Shopify-WhiteWall world.

It’s taken me a while to wrap my brain around the steps involved (and a lot of coffee), but all is good.

Cheers!
