Shopify's Bundles App & shopify discount ( Discount codes work for default products, not bundles)

I’m encountering an issue with Shopify discount codes not applying correctly to product bundles created using the official “Shopify Bundles” app.

Here’s the problem:- I’ve created discount codes in my Shopify admin that work perfectly fine when applied to individual, non-bundled products in the cart.

  • However, when a customer adds a product bundle (created with the “Shopify Bundles” app) to their cart, the same discount code fails to apply at the checkout.

Any idea about this issue and how to solve it ?
Thanks,

Hi @Znajib  I’m Ellie from BOGOS, #1 Shopify Promotion App (Gifts, Bundles, Upsells, Discounts)

Could you please share how your discount code is currently set up? Please make sure you choose “amount off products” type. BTW, If you’re applying the code to a collection, make sure the collection includes your bundled product (created using the Shopify Bundle app).

Also, this is my recommendation:

:one: Create a separate discount code for your bundle product (created by Shopify Bundle app) → This way work 100% (I’ve tested it), but you have to create a new discount code along with the current one.

:two: Use BOGOS app to automatically apply discount to your bundle with 2 options:

  • create bundle widget under bundled product page. Here’s a Shopify store using BOGOS:

  • create bundle product (exactly like Shopify Bundle app).

It’s so lovely of you to Like and Accept as Solution. I’m really appreciated

Hi Znajib,

Can you please share screenshots of your discount settings?

From the POV of discounts, bundles are just products. If your discount is set to only apply to specific products, but the bundles are not included in that list, then they won’t be eligible for the discount.

Hello Znajib,
I’ve seen this issue before with Shopify Bundles. Technically, bundles created via the app are treated as regular products, but there are a few catches:

  • If your discount code is set to apply to specific products or collections, and your bundle isn’t included, the code won’t apply.

  • Also, automatic discounts and some types of manual codes may not work as expected depending on how the bundle is structured.

If you’re looking for something more flexible, I’d suggest trying Rapi Bundles. It lets you build bundles directly on the product page, and regular Shopify discount codes still apply at checkout, no special config needed. Here’s an example on one of my shop :

It also gives more control over how bundles look and behave, and takes under 2 minutes to set up. You can test it free for 14 days here.

Let me know if you want a demo or a setup walkthrough, happy to help.
