Sort collection items by publish date or a metafield value?

Hi,

I’ve been trying for hours to change the sorting order of recent products so that they’re sorted by their publication date instead of the creation date of the listing. From what I’ve seen, this seems to be a fairly common issue.

I’m currently migrating a store from WooCommerce, and when uploading new products, they get sorted by the “Created At” attribute rather than the actual publication date. I’ve tried several solutions, but none have worked so far—they’re still being ordered by “Created At.”

I even have a metafield (which was already set up before this issue arose) that contains the actual publication date of the product.

If anyone knows how to fix this, I’d greatly appreciate your help.
