I hired three developers who have all failed me at completing my WIX subscription box site. I’ve been trying to get this done for 2 years.
I write stories and send them as letters weekly. I have several characters and each of them is a monthly subscription. It’s really a subscription letter site, but it seems “subscription box” is what will get me there.
At this point, I am considering moving over to Shopify but I have so many concerns. I don’t want to be another 2 years waiting while I try to get Shopify working.
How much of my sales does Shopify keep? It looks like I’ll be paying 30 dollars a month for the site. My subscriptions have very small profit margins for me. I create everything, there is no resale involved. I include free shipping for each item and they are only 21 dollars stateside and 24 dollars international shipping. How much of these sales will Shopify keep?
Are there other charges? I have my own domain name. I also pay for a mailbox (that doesn’t really do what I need it to do… sigh)
I am confused as to whether I can have recurring payments set up.
Will I lose any of my search engine mojo when I move from WIX to Shopify? I actually come up in the first three spots on Google. The membership pages on WIX are killing me!!!
Depending on what plan and gateway you’re on there might be credit card fees or transaction fees. Other than your monthly payment for your plan, the credit card fee’s listed below would be your only other potential charge from Shopify directly.
If you use an app developed by a third party there could be charges for that, but that is the developer charge, not Shopify. All Shopify apps in the App store are free.
If you have a domain already, that is great, you can transfer it over to your Shopify store and there would be no other charges there, other than your yearly domain subscription with your domain provider. You can see how to transfer your domain to your Shopify store with the steps in the help guide about connecting a third party domain here.
Your SEO will be affected when you change from Wix to Shopify, there is no stopping that unfortunately. But you can set SEO up within your store directly with keywords and with the help of some apps too. Shopify has a great help guide on SEO here as well as a list of SEO apps you can explore here.
I think that’s everything you touched on and hope it helps. Do you have any other questions about looking to join Shopify? If so, be sure to let me know!
