Subscription apps requires changes to be compatible with Shop Pay

As merchants expand their subscription offerings to include Shop Pay ahead of BFCM, we are recommending immediate changes be applied to subscription apps to avoid breaking changes with subscription management. These changes include:

  1. Upgrading your app to Shopify’s 2021.10 API
  2. Implementing the new CustomerShopPayAgreement instrument associated to subscription contracts paid with Shop Pay

The new CustomerPaymentInstrument subtype named CustomerShopPayAgreement from the 2021-10 API version allows the ability to store Shop Pay Agreements in Shopify to be used by SubscriptionContracts. A new source field on the CustomerCreditCard instrument allows the ability to query the source of the customer’s credit card

Without action, buyers may experience subscription management issues at checkout and post purchase.
