Super slow store loading speed - Google Pagespeed score

Hi Everyone,

I have a preview link for my upcoming theme publish. I use Canopy theme, use kinda lots of apps (30 apps) and do some customization on the theme.

I measure the store preview with some steps:

  1. Theme with only apps: 4x mobile, 7x desktop

  2. theme with only customization code: 4x mobile, 9x desktop

  3. theme with apps and customized code: 3x mobile, 5x desktop

→ preview link: https://hv68xqftpn0vxpmd-67034841376.shopifypreview.com

I thinks the apps are the problems, but not sure which one exactly. I am not sure what is blocking or loading why my site score is super slow, even though it’s not that slow when navigating the store.

Need some advices on this! Thanks

Hello,

It seems like you’re experiencing some performance issues with your Shopify store preview link. Based on the measurements you provided, it appears that the combination of apps and customization code is impacting the speed of your website.

To identify the specific app causing the slowdown, I recommend following these steps:

  1. Disable all apps: Temporarily disable all 30 apps installed on your store and check the preview link’s performance. Note the loading speed on both mobile and desktop.

  2. Enable apps one by one: Start enabling the apps individually, checking the preview link’s performance after enabling each app. This will help you identify which app(s) are causing the slowdown.

  3. Analyze app performance: Once you identify the app(s) causing the issue, review their individual settings and configurations. Some apps may have options that affect loading times or conflicts with your theme or customization code.

  4. Contact app developers: If you’re unable to identify the specific app causing the slowdown, reach out to the developers of the apps you suspect might be the problem. They should be able to assist you in troubleshooting and optimizing their app’s performance.

Additionally, consider reviewing the customization code you’ve implemented in your theme. Ensure that the code is efficient and optimized for performance. You can consult with a developer or Shopify expert to help you optimize the code if needed.

Another suggestion is to check the script speed via GTmetrix. Visit gtmetrix.com and enter your preview link to generate a performance report. In the “Waterfall” section of the report, you can identify scripts with longer load times, which might be causing the slowdown. Investigate these scripts further to understand why they’re taking longer to load.

To further improve the speed of your store, you can also consider using websitespeedy.com. It’s a performance optimization tool that will automatically improve speed by fixing render blocking issues and implements other optimizations like lazy loading.

Remember to thoroughly test your store’s performance on different devices and browsers, both during the development process and after any changes you make. This will help ensure a smooth and speedy experience for your customers.

I hope these steps, along with the suggestions to use GTmetrix and websitespeedy.com, help you identify and resolve the performance issues with your Shopify store. Good luck, and feel free to ask if you have any further questions!
