Synthax

Hope everyone is well?

I was asked recently by a Shopify expert at least that’s what they said they are. If I had secured my store with Synthax coding? Recently I was scammed by one of the people, they wiped out all my products. So, what is this codeing and why would I need to do it?

Hi,

  • Syntax in the context of Shopify refers to the coding language used within the platform.
  • Liquid is the primary templating language used in Shopify. It’s a simple language that allows you to control how your store’s content is displayed.
    • For example, Liquid is used to:
      • Display product information
      • Create loops for collections
      • Customize the layout of your store

How “Syntax” Coding Relates to Security

  • Directly: Syntax itself doesn’t directly “secure” your store.
  • Indirectly:
    • Custom Code: If you have custom Liquid code in your theme, vulnerabilities in that code could potentially be exploited.
    • App Integrations: If you use apps that interact with your store’s code, vulnerabilities in those apps could also pose a risk.

Preventing Future Incidents

  • Strong Passwords: Use strong, unique passwords for your Shopify admin account and any other accounts associated with your store.
  • Two-Factor Authentication (2FA): Enable 2FA for your Shopify account and any other relevant accounts.
  • Regularly Review Staff Access: If you have staff members with access to your store, regularly review their permissions and access levels.
  • Theme Security:
    • Use Official Themes: Stick to official Shopify themes or themes from reputable developers.
    • Review Custom Code: If you have custom code, have it reviewed by a trusted Shopify expert.
  • App Security:
    • Choose Apps Carefully: Only install apps from reputable developers and read reviews before installing.
    • Review App Permissions: Carefully review the permissions requested by each app.

Hoping my solution helps you solve your problem.
Best regards,

Hi,
This is Richard at PageFly - Shopify Advanced Page Builder app.

It sounds like you’re having a frustrating experience with Shopify’s customer support. Here’s a breakdown of why Shopify may primarily use chat support and some suggestions for how to proceed:

  • Reasons for Chat Focus:

    • Scalability: Chat can handle a larger volume of support requests simultaneously compared to phone support, which has limited capacity.
    • Efficiency: Chat allows support agents to address multiple inquiries concurrently, potentially resolving issues faster.
    • Detailed Documentation: Chat transcripts can be easily reviewed and used for training and improvement purposes.
    • Remote Work: Chat supports a remote work environment, enabling Shopify to employ a global support team.
  • Addressing Your Concerns:

    • Escalate Your Ticket: Since you’ve contacted support multiple times without a resolution, try escalating the issue. Look for an option to escalate within the chat interface or in your support ticket.
    • Social Media: If you’re not getting a response through official channels, try reaching out to Shopify on social media platforms like Twitter. Sometimes, public pressure can prompt a faster response.
    • Review Shopify’s Help Center: Explore the Shopify Help Center for potential solutions to your specific issues. You might find answers to your questions or troubleshooting guides that can help you resolve the problem independently.
    • Consider Legal Options: If you believe your rights as a consumer have been violated, you may want to consult with a lawyer to explore legal options.

Hoping my solution helps you solve your problem.
