Taxes Being Immediately Refunded on Order

I can’t understand why this happened. We have a temporary shop open on our website for a local seasonal swim team. We are located in the OKC, Oklahoma metro.

This particular customer ordered her items and was initially charged for tax. After her order was completed, the tax was almost immediately refunded to her. She is located in the same town as our shop and has a complete customer profile.

When working all the way to checkout, you can see the tax added and that it will be charged. I have no earthly idea why it was refunded after her purchase? We don’t want to eat this tax remittance for several incoming orders.

Hi @threadandbutter ,

Thank you for reaching out to the Community. I’d be happy to provide some assistance with this, to ensure it gets resolved. To gather a bit more information, do you currently have a physical nexus in Oklahoma?

For Oklahoma, if you have a physical nexus in the state of the shipping address and you’re registered to collect tax there, then the customer’s location is used to determine taxes. To learn more about this, you can check out our US Tax Reference document. If you have registered to collect tax in Oklahoma and the customers shipping address is also located in that state, I’d encourage you to connect with us directly. This will allow our support team to investigate further, as we wouldn’t have access to any account details here through the Community. They will be able to ensure taxes are correctly being charged to customers moving forward.

Please let me know if you have any other questions!
