we recently update our Shop which runs on the theme Impulse to the newest version. Now we see that the filter option is very limited. We can only filter by price, variant, etc. but are not able to add a tag filter to the collection. Further, the option to edit the filter within the theme customizer is no longer available.
The customized filter option was crucial to our Shop however I guess running the Shop on the latest version is too.
Would someone have any idea how to integrate the tag filter option to our collections pages again?
I am running into the exact same issue with a client of mine. Were you able to find any kind of resolution to this issue? I would hope to see a combination of the new 2.0 filters that are built-in, PLUS the ability to add custom filters if needed.
In reading this documentation (below), I think the proper way to do this would be to, instead of using tags, use metafields. I think from a best practices standpoint, this is how Shopify wants you to handle it. The tag/delimiter approach has always been kind of a workaround. Metafield filtering is preferable and makes more sense from a data perspective.

I have been trying to find answers to this question as well, but not getting very far. If i have a very large inventory and it is not possible to go back and add metafields for each product is there any way to go around this to filter ?
