Thousands of product with different dimensoins, how do i work on the shipping?

We’re an art company that sells a wide range of artworks, including paintings, drawings, sculptures, and occasionally important documents. Since these items are quite different from typical eCommerce products, I’m wondering how we should best handle shipping.

Right now, our idea is to create predefined package types that could fit various products. But with thousands of artworks in different sizes and forms, what’s the best way to manage this?

the tools that we’re using right now is matrixify, i’m not sure if there are columns for height width and length that could help our shipping tool (easyship) to automatically know which kind of package should they use and give us the rate.

Here’s the best approach to make your shipping setup smooth and automated:

1. Add product dimensions to Shopify:

Since Shopify only supports weight by default, we’ll create custom metafields for each product’s length, width, and height.

2. Use Matrixify for bulk updates:

Matrixify allows us to upload all your artworks’ dimensions in bulk (via CSV), which saves hours of manual data entry.

3. Connect Easyship to those dimensions:

Once the metafields are in place, we can map them inside Easyship so it automatically reads each product’s size and calculates the most accurate shipping rate.

4. Create predefined packaging rules:

For example, “Small Canvas,” “Large Sculpture,” or “Framed Artwork.” Easyship will automatically choose the right package based on the metafield data or product tag.

This setup will let Easyship automatically detect the correct packaging and rate for every artwork, even though each item has unique dimensions.
