Tip limited to 100% - can that be changed?

Hi community.

I’m setting up a shop that is selling political art. I managed to modify the “tips” section to say “donations” so customers can add an additional donation to the political cause. The problem is that the item I’m selling is only $10, so the max tip/donation people can give is $10. Is there any way to modify the site or code to allow for bigger tips/donations?

Thanks tons!

I’m interested in this answer also. I just turned it on for my store and was surprised to see that it was limited to the amount of the items being ordered.

How did you manage to change the tips section to show donations. I struggling to locate the right place to do this in our theme “Supply”. We only have options to choose the tip range in the admin panel and cant find the appropriate section in the code either.

I have same problem!!! I am trying to figure out.

I will try 500% in my setting and see what happen.

Same problem. I am using it for a fundraiser to raise additional donations to help with family member dealing with cancer. It only allows up to 100% of the order. But ive had people spending $25 on an order but wanting to donate an additional $100 for example

Sorry no answer - but I am adding my voice to say that as a non-profit we need this! Or an option different than tip to leave donation (without a 3rd party with a fee). We just had a customer who tried to give us a $100 donation, but was limited to a % of her $20 purchase.

Definitely need the option to tip above 100% - I have a monthly item that is “pay what you wish” and has a minimum price of $1.00

You can’t set an option above 100%

You can however type in $1,000 as the amount, and it gets added to the total, but the tip box still complains that you can’t add more than $1.00 to the tip in red (which will confuse customers)

I can’t use any of “name your price” apps/plugins, because they do not work with my WP-Shopify checkout being used on my WordPress website.

If you require a tip/donation larger than the percentage limitation, perhaps using the standard product functionality would be a better option.

This way you could create a product that was titled “Donations” with relevant graphics. If this was for a large amount, you might consider sending a Thank You card. You could set multiple variants for the donation and encourage purchases with nice descriptive text. You could also add to the Home page etc.

I’m not 100% sure, but I think there are some regulations in certain countries about how much you can ask for a tip (even if it’s a called a donation) — perhaps worth researching?
