Tips for starting out with google ads

We are looking to use ads on google to promote our products. What are the best ways to go about this when it comes to spending money, or creating ads?

Hello Rebelssea, thank you for your question in the FeedArmy AMA Event.

In the beginning I recommend you setup standard shopping campaigns, so that you learn what search terms are triggering your ads.

Then once you have tested it for a few days, decide if there are a lot of irrelevant keywords or not.

If yes, you can setup an advanced standard shopping strategy explained here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CiRIDzRrHno

Or if you want a bit of an easy way forward, setup a performance max campaign with no ad assets. I talk about this here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6VhX7MqIgY

So for these two, you don’t need to create any ads, what I mean is the ad assets. Just setup the campaigns.

But if you want to setup a normal performance max campaign, with assets then I recommend you include headlines that convinces a customer to click on your ad. For example do you have free shipping, do you have 15% off first order, do you have a great returns policy. Etc, add all of these at least.

Then add some other headlines that makes you different from any other competitor.

Hope it helps.

How effective are using ads on google or YouTube? And how much would you need to spend in order for them to be effective?

For eCommerce businesses the most effective campaign is standard shopping or performance max.

I recommend you start with a $30 daily budget and at least run it for a few weeks.
