Top 2-3 SEO metrics to track daily

I am an SEO neophyte, in fact I frequently mispell it. I am looking for 2 or 3 high level metrics to track on the daily to see if my website’s SEO is trending in the right direction…what do you recommend? FYI I have access to Semrush. Thanks!

Hi @SteveMariucci

It’s David from SearchPie here.

That’s a smart approach. For a daily check-in on your SEO health, you only need to focus on a few key indicators.

The first and most important is your Organic Traffic, which is the number of visitors finding you through unpaid search results. If this number is trending up over time, it’s the clearest sign your efforts are paying off. To do so, you can have a look at the Google Analytics tool.

The second metric to watch is your Keyword Rankings for your most important search terms. This is a leading indicator; your traffic won’t grow until your rankings improve, so seeing your keywords move up in the search results is how you track progress before the sales come. This is where a tool is essential. You can use Semrush for this, and it’s also a core feature of our app, SearchPie.

Our SEO report gives you a simple, daily view of your current SEO status and combined with our Keyword Research feautre you can see if you’re moving in the right direction. Moreover, our app connects directly to your Google Search Console after you chose to connect it as to ensure a more precise data.

Finally, keep an eye on the Number of New Backlinks, which are links to your site from other websites. A steady increase in quality backlinks is a powerful signal to Google that your site’s authority is growing, which will help lift all your rankings over time.

By tracking just these three things, you get a clear daily snapshot of your SEO: the result (traffic), the progress (rankings), and the foundation (backlinks).

Hope this helps!
