Transaction export missing half the data?

Hi there, I’m trying to export transaction data for the orders in our Shopify store, and the csv file that it spits out is consistently giving about half of the actual entries. So if I select 50 orders for transaction data, it will give me about 25 of the orders only. I assume this is some sort of bug—has anyone else had this problem?

Hi @curdbox

Are you seeing any error messages when attempting your exports? Are the files being emailed to you? Make sure you aren’t mistakenly overwriting any of the data with the same handles.

If you are able to follow up with some screenshots of your export process, it can help us troubleshoot this further in addition to reviewing common CSV issues here.

Please be sure that you’re using Chrome when exporting your data as there are known issues that can occur with other browsers.

Let me know how that goes!

Hi there, thanks for the quick response. I’m using Chrome. I select my orders in the Orders view, click Export in the top right corner, choose to export the selected orders, click “Export transaction histories”, and then depending on the number of orders I’ve selected I either get a csv file download right away or I’m emailed a csv file a few moments later. When I open it, it has about half of the orders that I selected to export. This happens consistently with different sizes and sets of orders.

I’m attaching a screenshot of 50 orders I exported transaction histories for, and the resulting csv file has 20 rows of data. I tried this with a set of around 480 and it gave me back around 212 rows of data. This seems like a bug? Please let me know if I can offer any other information.

Here’s the screenshot.

Hi! Let me see if I can answer these questions—there are no error exports throughout the process. I always use Chrome. For this example of exporting transaction data for 50 rows, it is a direct download and not emailed, though if I select more orders they will be emailed.

I’m not sure what you mean about overwriting the data with the same handles?

Attached is a zipped file of four screenshots showing my process:

  1. Selecting 50 orders, clicking Export, selecting to export the transaction history for selected 50 orders.

  2. Exported transactions is directly downloaded (not emailed) as a CSV.

  3. CSV file in the finder showing where it has been downloaded.

  4. Upon opening, the CSV file has 13 rows of data, but there should be 50 rows of data from the 50 selected orders.

Please let me know if I can provide any more information, and do let me know what you meant about overwriting the data. Thank you!
