Unidentified string on the end of my product urls

Hi I’ve just implemented Google Search Console and it’s throwing up a lot of errors. The worst of these is I have 252 indexed pages but 2500 not indexed. I’ve been inspecting these unindexed pages and they all seem to have this:

?pr_prod_strat=use_description&pr_rec_id=9b5b78559&pr_rec_pid=8809775038750&pr_ref_pid=8561586471198&pr_seq=uniform

on the end of each product url. (So the full url of the above product is

products/vintage-hero-de-paris-turquoise-dress?pr_prod_strat=use_description&pr_rec_id=9b5b78559&pr_rec_pid=8809775038750&pr_ref_pid=8561586471198&pr_seq=uniform

It just seems wrong to me. Can anyone advise pls?

Hey @anyoldvintage

You can ignore those URLs especially if they are all under “Alternate page with proper canonical tag”. The ?pr_prod_strat= is Shopify’s method of tracking.

Basically, Google is saying we know your main product URL (the canonical) and this one is different but we’re not going to index the URL with these parameters. It’s what you want.

You can read more about the different indexing issues in Search Console for Shopify stores here and which ones require action. In most cases, you can ignore the issues.
