So I left work today having had several enjoyable conversations on the Shopify Slack, only to return home to find Shopify unceremoniously nuked the entire thing. Idiot choice.
In protest, I created a new one, I find Slack far more helpful than a forum.

Bone headed move, I’m not a big fan of slack because how it silos OTHER peoples content.
But there’s just some stuff not meant for public consumption especially since shopify long ago nuked the private partners subforum and also never actually advertised it to grow it’s utility.
But hey it’s not like it’s used by alot of valuable people or somethingbecause if it did have value they would have a dashboard of money flowing through it or something right?!
It’s not like shopify limited access and pulled support slowly strangling useful utility instead of choosing to grow a curated high value tool. While acting like .dev forums meant for DEVELOPERS will also fulfill the needs of every type of partners. W T F.
It’s always disappointing in how much profit there is in doing under the bare minimum.
One the other hand this is a great ladder pulling move that will make thousands of years of collective knowledge and insight just vanish overnight.
Making it harder for newcomers to find critical detail , yet easier for incumbents to entrench and put shoes on faces. bust our your archival tools while the gettings good
