We are a concession within a garden centre as well as an online store. We don’t have access to the POS data but receive a weekly excel sheet of sales. We would like to use this data to update our shopify inventory. How do we do this?

It mainly depends on what other data you’re receiving from the weekly excel sheet of sales. What’s possible is to edit the excel sheet save it as csv and upload it to Shopify with the updated inventory.
You can download a sample CSV file to see what columns are available and how you’ll need to edit your excel sheet.
However, I recommend exporting your products as CSV, open the file e.g. in Google Sheet and make changes based on your weekly excel update. Then, save the changes and upload the file back to Shopify (don’t forget to check the checkbox - Overwrite any current products that have the same handle. Existing values will be used for any missing columns.
This will ensure that your products will be updated (the inventory quantity or anything else you change) instead of creating duplicate products.

This sounds very laborious- the sales report only tells me how many units of each item is sold. I would need to deduct this from the Shopify inventory - not overwrite it.

That’s fine is you have time to manually adjust the stock. We have over 1000 items - this would take forever. Im
looking for a simply solution or app that will take an excel sheet of sales and adjust products on the Shopify inventory automatically or with a simple upload. To manually adjust the inventory would take a good day.
We are doing it win an ERP. Was quite a challenge though. There is a synch between the external POS and the fulfillment which also knows stock of our market places (Amazon etc.) and it all goes back into Shopify as the leading system. If you need help with that let me know.

We can create a customized sheet for you where you can paste in the sales data, and the adjustment of inventory will be automatically done for you on Shopify. We’ll be doing this using the Sheet Master app on the Shopify App Store
