We are planning to move our online store from WooCommerce to Shopify.
In WooCommerce, we can assign a tax class (food and beverage, household, apparel, etc.) so our TaxJar, sales tax app can calculate the correct tax rate for each product in a cart at the checkout.
Can you also assign a tax class for each product in Shopify so our TaxJar app can calculate the correct tax rate for each product in a cart at the checkout?

Hi @CanisLupus ,
This is a really great question! There’s no way to set categories or tax classes on products in Shopify and the closest thing we would have would be the “Tax Code” field on the products page, which is only available for merchants on the Plus plan using Avalara.
TaxJar do however have an app which integrates with Shopify! It could be worth reaching out to TaxJar about how the app is already working and what data it pulls from Shopify in order to do your calculations.
